A collaboration between Meta and A24. The Pink Opaque is a VR game and limited edition Meta Quest 3 based on A24’s film I Saw the TV Glow (2024).
I Saw the TV Glow (2024), directed by Jane Schoenbrun, is a psychological horror-drama that delves into themes of identity, isolation, and impact of media on self-perception. Set in the 1990s, the film follows Owen, a teenager grappling with his sense of self, who is introduced by his classmate Maddy to a mysterious late-night TV show called The Pink Opaque. This show, a supernatural vision beneath their reality, begins to blur the lines between fiction and reality for Owen, leading him to question his identity and the world around him.
The key deliverables of the project include a limited edition Meta Quest 3 inspired by 90’s gaming hardware, such as the Gamecube and Playstation, and a VR game where users can explore the film’s fictional show, The Pink Opaque.

A key part of the collaboration is an exclusive pop-up. Seperated into two different areas, users are either invited to test the console and game, or to watch from a seperate space the live-gameplay.

A branding booklet encomposes the collaboration, including the product, collateral, and pop-up experience.
